The Beetle Moth - A Personal Monument

THE BEETLE MOTH
I was tasked to create a personal monument to myself, so I looked to wings for inspiration. Wings are personal to the creatures that bear them, specifically designed to help them achieve their goals. So I asked the question: What would my wings look like?
I looked to insects for inspiration, specifically to moths, beetles and dragonflies. I was drawn to the gold, green and blue iridescence of Luna Moths and Fig eater Beetles and soon I also had a colour story.
After conceptualization I began construction. The structure of the wings consists of a wire, to support the fabric wings and the wire is attached to a velvet ribbon harness, securing it to the body.
